FYI -----Original Message----- From: FBC Codes and Standards [mailto:codes at floridabuilding.org] Sent: Thursday, December 18, 2008 6:23 PM Subject: December FBC Summary Report FLORIDA BUILDING COMMISSION DECEMBER 8, 2008 MEETING SUMMARY REPORT Major Business and Actions The final rule hearing on glitch amendments to the 2007 Florida Building Code was conducted. The amendments will be implemented March 1, 2008 and will be posted on the Commission's website for free download. The final rule hearing was conducted on education rule 9B-70 to modify internet based forms required for course and course accreditor approvals. A design "Charette" exercise was conducted to develop design solutions for renovations of existing hotel sleeping rooms for accessibility to persons with disabilities. The challenge to the 2007 Code glitch amendments rule was resolved by agreeing to include Interior Designers in the Code during a separate glitch amendment proceeding during 2009. The Commission identified recommendations to the 2009 Legislature regarding clarification of the carbon monoxide detector requirements adopted in law, administration of the manufactured buildings program, recognition of an additional evaluation entity, authority to charge a fee for non-binding interpretations, establishing the 75% majority affirmative vote policy in statute, authority for Commission committee members to represent clients on issues before the Commission not related to the committee they serve on, authority for manufacturers to pay the product approval administrator directly for application related fees, and expanding glitch code criteria to recognizing equivalency of standards.
