Existing mechanical systems undergoing alteration shall comply with Section
301.11 of the Florida Building Code, Mechanical. 

(Note that the definition of level 1 alteration includes replacement of
existing equipment.)

301.11 Repair.
Defective material or parts shall be replaced or repaired in such a manner
so as to preserve the original approval or listing.

Here is my take on it........

You are performing a Level 1 alteration.  The code says that you can not 
make the building less safe or less energy efficient than it already is.
You can not install a  unit that weighs more than 105% of the  prior unit 
without evaluating the structure supporting the replaced equipment.
Assuming that you are not doing any of the above then you should be able to 
mount the new unit to the existing support ......... unless the new 
equipment is not designed for that type of support.
