Requires a lot of information that may not be here, 1st was the flashing incorrectly cited? Was it a code requirement? Assuming all is required, then you may need to litigate with your roofer and/or file a complaint with the state. If the roofer gave a false statement to the building official, the roofer will suffer the consequences. In my opinion, the building department is not a citizens "quality control". If the flashing was a code requirement - the roofer must correct; if it is an "industry standard or best practice", the inspector can recommend its placement but cannot require it. Ask for a meeting with the Building Official - See what he/she says to do. All of a sudden without a field inspection the CBO signed off on the job, when I inquired to the city they said the roofer supplied a letter stating the corrections were made. I informed the CBO- NONE of the corrections were made, he said he would call the roofer? and may need to come to the job As a building contractor I have never heard of such nonsense what is the protocol here?
