Stucco applied in any fashion or method will never work on a frame structure......the expansion rate of wood is far greater than that of cement. A block structure expands and contracts at the same rate, thus a much lower leak rate. As you are out about town.....count the number of older frame buildings that were finished with masonry stucco, very few! The ones that were, as all other frame buildings of the time, had lapped 15# felt. In all the frame buildings I have built, I have never had a leak because of the 15# felt. Nor I have I ever place stucco over frame......The Old Timers were not dumb....remember that as there is much to learn from them! This stucco issue in simply an attempt to re-invent the wheel......thus up the learning curve once more concluding to the same old answer, won't work......A very expense lesson learned once more!
