Afternoon All, I wanted to get some thoughts on some of the child labor restrictions. I run a shop were we manufacture custom closets. My question is what, if anything, can I employ a 16 y/o to do? I know he cannot operate any of the machinery at all. However, can he be employed to move materials, clean the materials after manufacturing, etc? I've read through all the restrictions and it seems to mention very clearly that a 16 y/o cannot operate machinery, drills, saws, etc but doesn't mention whether they can or cannot perform other tasks in the same general area where the machinery is located. Does anyone have any other references that state a specific restriction or distance from the prohibited tasks? Also, any interpretation on what is specifically meant by "toxic substances"? We use Goof Off to clean the excess glue left from the edge banding process. While we're on the subject might as well address restrictions for a 16 y/o working on a "construction site" as well. We also have a construction business (mostly remodels and small additions) so can I employ a 16 y/o to again move materials, clean, etc? Thanks, Ken -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL: http://myfloridacode.com/pipermail/codetalk/attachments/20090208/ec3e1863/attachment.html
