I asked BOAF for an informal interpretation on this two years ago. Following is their response: Question: Is it the intent of section R303.1, Florida Building Code - Residential, to not require insect screen on doors or windows used to provide natural ventilation? Answer: There is no requirement in the Residential code to provide insect screening for windows and doors used to provide natural ventilation. Commentary: Insect screening IS often a component of minimum housing standards adopted by local governments. Here is a link to the informal interpretation - http://www.boaf.net/pdf/I-List/4226.pdf Don Meyer, Architect Coral Springs, FL -------------- Original message from gita kumar <gitakumar at yahoo.com>: -------------- I would like to know if there is a requirement by any of the FBC to have screens > in the windows for new constructions?
