If there are separate spaces under the control of different businesses then they would be considered tenants. ( Tenant. Any person, agent, firm, corporation or division who uses or occupies land, a building or portion of a building by title, under a lease, by payment of rent or who exercises limited control over the space). -----Original Message----- From: benjid at mindspring.com [mailto:benjid at mindspring.com] Sent: Monday, January 26, 2009 2:54 PM To: Roy Jackson Subject: Re: [Florida Code Talk] (no subject) Hey Roy, For purposes of the code is the building owner considered a "tenant". The reason I ask is this business will only have one tenant and the legal owner of the building. The owner will continue using the majority of the building the single tenant using a portion of the second floor. It looks like this section refers to multiple tenants? -----Original Message----- >From: Roy Jackson <rjac at osceola.org> >Sent: Jan 26, 2009 1:42 PM >To: "'codetalk at myfloridacode.com'" <codetalk at myfloridacode.com> >Subject: [Florida Code Talk] (no subject) > >1013.2.1 Multiple tenants. > > > >Where more than one tenant occupies any one floor of a building or structure, each tenant space, dwelling unit and sleeping unit shall be provided with access to the required exits without passing through adjacent tenant spaces, dwelling units and sleeping units. > > >Roy Jackson, Chief Building Inspector >1 Courthouse Square, Suite 1400 >Kissimmee, Florida 34741 >(407)343.2240 fx.
