-----Original Message----- From: FBC Codes and Standards [mailto:codes at floridabuilding.org] Sent: Monday, November 09, 2009 3:55 PM Subject: Florida Building Commission Upcoming Meetings Florida Building Commission "the Commission" Notice - Up coming meetings and workshops 2010 Update to the Florida Building Code: The following Technical Advisory Committees will be meeting at the December meeting of the Florida Building Commission to be held on December 7 - 10, 2009, at the Rosen Centre Hotel in Orlando, Florida: Structural Technical Advisory Committee; December 7, 2009 at 8:00 a.m. Mechanical Technical Advisory Committee; December 8, 2009 at 8:00 a.m. Plumbing Technical Advisory Committee; December 8, 2009 at 10 a.m. Roofing Technical Advisory Committee; December 10, 2009 at 8 a.m. The purpose of the meetings is to review Florida-specific criteria as integrated into the 2009 International Codes (I - Codes) base documents, and to determine if those criteria are covered by changes to the relevant I Codes. A separate document containing the integrated Florida-specific changes and detailing any potential code conflicts "Overlapping Requirements" are available from the link below. Without a change to the base codes, Florida-specific criteria will prevail unless someone proposes a code change during the upcoming code change cycle that will result in the 2010 Florida Building Code, projected to go into effective in 2012. The same will be true for new requirements of the 2009 I codes: said requirements will prevail unless a code change is proposed and approved by the Commission. The code change cycle will open on March 1, 2010, with an online code change proposal submittal form at www.floridabuilding.org <http://www.floridabuilding.org/> . Impacted parties should become educated on the provisions of the 2009 I codes before then and be ready to propose any necessary changes prior to April 1, 2010, when the cycle will close. Please note that staff recommendation regarding the "Overlapping Requirements" will be available from the link below late this month.
