Based on a roofing contractors license, see below. It appears they can replace as many as they need as long as it is needed. Tom Ricci BT Builders Inc 954-214-4448 (e) "Roofing contractor" means a contractor whose services are unlimited in the roofing trade and who has the experience, knowledge, and skill to install, maintain, repair, alter, extend, or design, when not prohibited by law, and use materials and items used in the installation, maintenance, extension, and alteration of all kinds of roofing, waterproofing, and coating, except when coating is not represented to protect, repair, waterproof, stop leaks, or extend the life of the roof. The scope of work of a roofing contractor also includes required roof-deck attachments and any repair or replacement of wood roof sheathing or fascia as needed during roof repair or replacement. I answered with another question. If someone has the ability to replace one sheet of sheathing do they now become stupid and don't know how to change more? My opinion on this is as long is there is no truss involvement in the replacement then the number of sheets would be what ever it takes to complete a satisfactory job to code. And you will probably receive as many answers as I did and then it never was decided on. So it will be up to the local jusistiction on how bad they want to mess with the roofing contractor. What ever happened to good common sense? IMHO. good luck on this one. I have a question that I have asked my local Building Department and have got several answers. I have been told that we can change between 2 to 4 sheets of Plywood/OSB when re-roofing. I have asked several Roofing Contractors the same question and it varies for 6 sheets to no limit. I was given a copy of: FRSA Governent Insider. 2008 Legislative Session Over. Roofing Contractor License Scope to include Deck Attachment & Wood Sheathing Replacement. HB 697 by Gary Aubuchon (R-Cape Coral) relating to the Florida Building Code. My question is: How many sheets of Plywood/OBS (4'x8') can be replaced during re-roofing a building by a State Certified Roofing Contractor (CCC license)? Does a CCC license have the same scope as a State Cerified: Residental (CRC), Building (CBC), or General (CGC) Contractor has when re-roofing a building? Thank you for your input.
