[Florida Code Talk] Hot water in public bathrooms

The point is hot water is required in the bathroom the employees use. Separate hot water out of the bathroom area is not ok. If there is a bathroom for employees with hot water then the publics accessible bath does not require hot water. I agree with Larry this is a FDHR requirement. I don't know the code # but I know what I have had to do in restaurants I have built.

ONLY ONLY for the employees to wash their hands - otherwise hot water is not required. If the toilet room is not used by the employees to wash up; then you do not need hot water.

In response to the answer to hot (tempered) water being required in restrooms, can you please substantiate the "yes" answer with a code reference? We have not been able to find this. Unless it is required by the Florida Dept. of Hotels and Restaurants.

  FBC Plumbing 2007

SECTION 607 HOT WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM

607.1 Where required. In occupied structures, hot water shall be supplied to all plumbing fixtures and equipment utilized for bathing, washing, culinary purposes, cleansing, laundry or building maintenance.

Exception: In nonresidential occupancies, hot water or tempered water shall be supplied for bathing and washing purposes. The delivery of cold water only shall be permitted to be delivered from all hand-washing facilities except where hot water is required by law.

So where is the hot water required by law

If these are the lavatories that are used by the employees to wash their hands, then yes.

Good day all.........just a quickie for the day.... If a business ( food ) is leasing space and the COMMON AREA restrooms are to be used by all in the same building.....is there anything in the code that states that the restrooms MUST have hot water.... The food business portion has 3 handsinks that do supply hot water for the employees of said food business.

  Thanks Bunches
