Unfaced EPS foam insulation glued to the block. Furring strips over that. No
vapor retarder. No foil face on the insulation. You don’t want it in a
heating climate.

Subject: [Florida Code Talk] Sheetrock over block wall

I have a small room utility room in a block house that’s being converted to
a closet and as such need to finish it with sheetrock. Just curious as to
the current ideas on how best to do this and still conserve space? Walls
are above ground (not a basement). My initial thought is ¾” (or possibly
1-1/2”) furring strips but wondering if I need to do any insulation or vapor
barrier or seal the block. Any and all thoughts are welcome and
appreciated.
