Kim,
Florida Statue 255.2575 (2) is out of the following part of our laws.
Section XVIII - Public Lands and Property - This section only
applies to public lands and property owned by a government entity and not a
private owner.
Chapter 255 - Public Property and Publicly Owned Building - This
chapter applies to again property or improvements owned by a governmental
agency and NOT a private owner.
Section 2575 - Addresses any building owned by a governmental agency must
meet one of the "green" initiatives on all projects that are commenced after
July 1, 2008. One would assume that any design, for permit, which started
after this date would need to meet a green initiative. The section does not
define what standard (silver, gold, platinum, etc.) it needs to meet as far
as the amount of "green initiative". Seems the law has a lot of mother hood
and apple pie and sounds good but no hard core requirement as to any level
of energy efficiency beyond the FBC energy efficiency requirements.

2(ENERGY-EFFIC IANT AND SUSTAINABLE BUILDINGS
255.2575.2 Reads:
All county, municipal, school district, water management district, state
university, community college, and Florida state court buildings shall be
constructed to meet the United States Green Building Council (USGBC)
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system, the
Green Building initiative's Green Globes rating system, the Florida Green
Building Coalition standards, or a nationally recognized, high-performance
green building rating system as approved by the Department of Management
Services. This section shall apply to all county, municipal, school
district, water management district, state university, community college,
and Florida state court buildings the architectural plans of which are
commenced after July 1, 2008.
Need to know if anyone can tell me if this applies to every building or just
state, county, municipal and federal buildings.
I need to know as soon as possible.
Thanks so much for your help.
