Thank you, Marlita Peters Codes and Standards (850) 922-6864 RE: Proposed Code Modifications to the proposed 2010 Florida Building Code. This is to inform you that the proposed code amendment cycle to the 2010 update to the Florida Building Code will commence March 1, 2010 and will close by midnight April 2, 2010. The draft 2010 update to the Florida Building Code (FBC) consists of the 2009 International Building Codes (I-Codes) as the foundation and the Florida specific requirements currently existing within the 2007 Florida Building Code and compiled in documents title "Florida Supplements to the 2009 I-Codes". Proposed code modifications are accepted electronically via the www.floridabuilding.org website. In order to stream-line the code modification submittal process, a new and improved "Code Modification Module" has been developed. Under the new Code Modification Module, there is no need to download a form. All of the information necessary to submit a modification may now be executed on-line at www.floridabuilding.org through the code mdofication database. To familiarize yourself with the new module, we advise that you take the time to review the list of "Questions & Answers" and the "Users Guide" available at the following link: http://www.floridabuiling.org/cm/cm_faq.aspx In order to submit a code change to the 2010 FBC, you must use as a base text for your code change, the 2009 I-Codes and the Florida supplements to the 2009 I-Codes available at the link below: http://www.dca.state.fl.us/fbc/thecode/Documents_to_be_Used.htm After reviewing both the 2009 I-Codes and Florida Supplements to the 2009 I-Codes, cut the text of concern and revise as appropriate using legislative format for drafting your proposed code change. Please note: the Florida Energy Efficiency Conservation Code has been completely revised using the 2009 International Energy Conservation Code 'as the foundation code'. The new draft Energy Code is titled 'Energy Conservation' and is available at the link below. Please use the text in this document as the basis for your modification. http://www.dca.state.fl.us/fbc/thecode/Documents_to_be_Used.htm Insturctions for submitting a proposed code modification is available from the "Users Guide" stated above. Should you have any questions, please call us at (850)487-1824. Thank you, very much, for your work in the development of the 2010 Florida Building Code.
