Today's Topics: 1. Response to MEllis BASELSS remarks (Sam Nasser) 2. Re: Response to MEllis BASELSS remarks (Schelle Wood) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Message: 1 Date: Fri, 8 Jan 2010 15:10:50 -0500 From: "Sam Nasser" <bnasser at cfl.rr.com> Subject: [Florida Code Talk] Response to MEllis BASELSS remarks To: <codetalk at myfloridacode.com> Message-ID: <922FD76A2F83441B9845B270DC12EB64 at downstairs> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" This forum is to ask and to respond to questions pertaining to Florida Building Code so that we all learn from each other and the experiences we have. It is NOT intended to post personal issues or vent out. However, since Mr. Ellis MISSTATED & MISREPRESENTED MOST EVERYTHING, I feel compelled so put in your hands the facts as follows: 1. Mr. Ellis stated in writing that he completed and passed rough Electric and requested and got paid $20,000 for doing so. Few days later I was shocked to learn that rough electric was disapproved with penalty as you see below: Inspections for Permit Number: 000 000 ELEC 00 - ELECTRICAL PERMIT Inspection Type Sched Date Status Results Date ELEC ROUGH 09/18/09 DISAPPROVED WITH PENALTY 09/18/09 2. Mr. Ellis had all the time on earth to do his work but he provide one electrician and the work done as described by others, is NOT to code and needs to be redone as stated by electrical contractors who came to bid on the work and stated, verbatim, the following: "1-All the mc cables need to be re strapped right on the walls and the wood truss in all 15 units. They are not done to code. 2-All the lights cr need to be pulled in and piped in all 15 units. Note done yet. 3-All phone pipes need to be re done and mounted right and glued together in all 15 units. Not one right. 4-All ac pipes need to be re done, glued and re piped in all 15 units. Not done yet and what is done is not to code. 5-All panels need to be flipped over and new service wire pulled in to all 15 units. Not done to code. 6-All out side plugs need to be on house panel not off of in unit panel in all 15 units. 7-All cr need to be traced out so we know where they go and wired right for all 15 units. 8- The garage units need bigger service wire pulled to it. The current one is too small for a car garage unit. 9-All 15 units need the bath room light and fan done right. They are not wired right. 10-Pull strings need to be pulled in to all a/c and telephone pipes in all 15 units. Not done yet. 11-Add plugs where need be to per code, not a made up print in all 15 units. 12-Add lights and plugs up where Air handler units are as per code for all 15 units. 13-Fix the ground out at the service. Done wrongly 100%. 14-All house panel wiring need to be strapped and checked. 15- All work in units need to be done right, what is done is poor workmanship 100%." 3. Mr. Ellis abandoned this project and stopped work since September because we refused to sign a change order he requested for work that is clearly stated in his proposal and is an integral part of his scope of work. 4. Mr. Ellis did not scheduled any inspections and have not done hardly any work since September in spite of repeated requests to do finish his work 5. Mr. Ellis refused to provide 17 electric panel covers we paid him $10,000 to install. 6. The hold is NOT on the permit held by Mr. Ellis. It is on the permit the City issued to the new Electrical contractor we hired AFTER we fired Mr. Ellis. 7. We did NOT hire any mediators. The person Mr. Ellis referred to is a personal friend of his who happened to have worked for us and called me offering to resolve this as "Christian brothers" which I welcomed. In fact we did agree to resolve the matter but TWO days later, Mr. Ellis changed the agreement which I refused. 8. After waiting on Mr. Ellis for three months with NO work done and no progress, I gave up and fired him. Wouldn't ALL of you do the same when confronted with this unprofessional work and fiasco??? 9. The matter is being handled by DBPR and the legal process and I feel sorry for wasting your time and boring all of you with this trivial stuff Mr. Ellis brought on. Therefore, I will NOT write about it again because this is NOT the place for it. Kind regards, Sam Nasser -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
