It is a "repair" in accordance with Chapter 5 of the FBC-EB if you restore it with like kind and quality materials, but it may be considered an alteration if you change the layout or configuration of the trusses or significantly modify the materials.

Fire-damaged SFR.  Approximately 40% of roof structure destroyed with some minor damage to interior partitions.  Is the restoration to building considered repair or alteration under Florida Existing Building Code?  (Heard different opinions on this.)  Any and all replies will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.
