Yes they did something wrong, they took away part of what division 1 contractors did and made a new license category, I think licensing is a good idea, but it would be like saying that only aluminum contractors could do aluminum work, or paint contractors could only do paint, unless the division 1 contractors got the additional license. Who knows more about inspecting a structure the people licensed to build them or a previously non regulated industry setting the standard for the new license category? some home inspectors are good, but they also have contractors licenses as well as their inspector certification from various agencies. some of the home inspection reports I have seen they have no clue what they are doing, yet because they have 120 reports they are now getting a license. I am not going to turn over 120 confidential inspection reports I have done to the state, it is none of their business who my clients are. The first one allowed Div. 1 contractors to inspect and the other did not. This makes for a complicated legal decision as to which one takes precedence.
