Last week I did a wind mit inspection on a home where I was unable to verify thru procedures that I'm aware of that the roof covering met the minimum requirement of the 2001 Building Code. ( 3 tab dimensional Shingles) 1) I did a public records search and found the roof covering was permitted in October of 2001. 2) The AHJ or the owner had no record of manufacturer of the roof covering 3) The attachments penetrated the ½" cdx roof sheathing meeting the minimum penetration requirement but only 4 attachments per shingle 4) No extra shingles at the site and therefore unable to verify manufacture Under does the roof covering meet the requirements of the 2001 Building Code I checked the box unknown or can not verify My client called today in a rage because his insurance is going to increase about $ 1,000 per year and was told by his agent that he picked the wrong inspector. With the information provided have I missed something?
