Group, I just returned from Tallahassee and met with the Government
Appropriations Committee regarding House Bill 713 - Home Inspections and
Mold Related Services. All went well. The committee listened to our
concerns and were not aware of the potential problems the language of
the bill created and failed to fix. They mentioned getting your e-mails
and phone calls - give yourself a round of applause...

They passed the bill so that it can go on the next step, council
meeting. It is at this meeting that the ability exists to change the
language of the bill - and they want our changes considered.

I will be meeting with representatives next week to work out language
that will protect our rights.

We are not out of the woods yet - but we can see the edge of the
forest....

Have a blessed weekend - I know I will sleep better.

Also, one other quick note on this. If the legislature circumvents the
authority of the Florida Building Commission and removes the IRC fire
sprinkler requirement, ISO will drop all building departments one
BCEGS class. So, if your jurisdiction is a 4, it will drop to a 5 if
everything else remains the same. Something else to look forward to
for us and higher insurance rates for our citzens courtesy of the
legislature.
